J. Boye Conferences: Philadelphia 2009

A Knowledge Sharing Summit for Online Professionals

Thanks to everyone who participated in the first J. Boye conference in Philadelphia; delegates, speakers, sponsors and volunteers. You all contributed to making it a rich, relevant learning and networking experience. It was our first event outside Europe and what a great start!

If you missed it or simply want to take a walk down memory lane, enjoy this great video produced by a delegate: J.Boye Philadelphia 09 - The best thing I saw at the conference.

We are already planning the next J. Boye conferences. If you liked this year's event, we encourage you to get even more involved next year: send us ideas for tracks and sessions, submit a speaking proposal and bring your colleagues. In the meantime, keep the conversations going; email, blog, tweet - or meet!

See you at Philadelphia 2010 in May.

  • eZ Web Idol Winners
May. 07: At the end of an exciting first conference day with lots of interesting presentations and lively discussions, we crowned the first Web Idol winner in the US. 4 vendors presented their products – each giving a 6 minute strictly timed demo. The judging panel; Tony Byrne (CMS Watch), Lou Rosenfeld (Rosenfeld Media) and Line Østergaard (Nycomed) commented on each presentation and the audience voted.
The winner was Norwegian open source vendor, eZ. Presenter, Bård Farstad, has previously won the European Web Idol competition. This year the judges called the presentation "smooth and capable; if anything slightly flat." The winner was announced at the evening’s conference dinner held at the spectacular ship, the Moshulu. Congratulations to eZ and thanks to all who took part.
  • New strategy case study: Wyeth Pharmaceuticals
May. 02: Christine Bates is Manager of Commercial Information for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals; a leading pharmaceutical company with global presence. Christine’s case study titled Content Governance in a Web 2.0 Environment will show how some teams at Wyeth have arrived at a solution that supports effective collaboration within a moderated environment in order to help advance strategic business objectives. Join the strategy and governance track to learn more.
  • 2 opportunities to experience David Pogue live!
Apr. 30: David needs little introduction, and we are thrilled that he has agreed to open the conference with a fast-paced, fun and provocative keynote titled “Disruptive Tech: What’s New, What’s Coming, and How It Will Change Everything”. David will stick his neck out to predict what from the world of personal entertainment, cellular tech and Web 2.0 will have the most impact on society in the coming years; what will actually cause disruption and real change. But you also have the opportunity of joining David for a 3-hour in-depth session on “Google – the Missing Manual” on Tuesday. We still have seats available for this exciting session on how to make all types of regular Google searches more efficient and useful. For all registration combinations take a look and sign up.

"The J. Boye Conference was a perfect event: the emphasis was on meeting with peers and experts and exchanging experiences, which is what it should be all about. The organisers know how to maximise the opportunities for contacts and I met so many interesting people and we explored so many interesting aspects that I would have loved to stay days longer!"
